SUBJECT: Progressive, Political Reform 1870 - 1920
"It was we, the people, not we, the white male citizens, nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed this Union."

Susan B. Anthony dared to do the unthinkable - VOTE! And it raised the eyebrows, and fury, of many. But it also illustrates the political/social time period at the transition between the 19th/20th centuries. We were PROGRESSING and that meant a change in how people viewed their culture - and their government.

We will discuss the beginning of a new era in our nation's history this week. 



REMEMBER to go over your notes (and highlight) 3-5 minutes daily - there will be a TEST...WEDNESDAY!...
We will review but expect the test to be over material we have learned from the rise of the Industrial Age, to the Spanish-American War, to the Women's Rights Movement (what we will discuss this week). Go over your reading questions and class notes - study and review with your Study Buddy!

We are doing something a bit different in your reading this week. Read the most important document leading to our nation's birth - and we will discuss it's implications during the Progressive Era.

The READING on "The Declaration of Independence" and answer questions by next Monday (November 18th):
